Whaddon 4x4

Image
Off-road driving at Whaddon Another practice off-road driving at a 4x4 play site Whaddon near Milton Keynes. A massive 80 acres. Preparation Moved the hydraulic feed pipe. It was the lowest point on the vehicle, going under the gearbox guard.I did that ready for the exhaust work. It is now moved back and is protected by the transfer case guard. Oiled and greased this and that. Fixed the front diff lock (two wires were a bit loose.) Put a proper clip on one of the large outer front CV boots. Fantastic service from Panda tools - ordered on Friday arrived on Saturday. A jubilee clip protrudes too much and cable ties, even the thin stainless ones, are not up to the job. What works are ladder clips that you crimp with nail pincers. Because the CVs are so big they need a pair of clips, which gives two crimps to tighten. Aims A.  To try out the winch under a significant load. B.  Practice a bit more on rough ground. C.  Go in deep water. I should be able to manage 1m D. T

Off Road in Napton

Secret Location in Napton Filming by Rob. This seemed a good place to test the winch ...  and more besides. Winch It worked fine, even on engine idle speed - but wound in and out faster with the revs up. Comfortably moved the Tardis even with brakes on hard. In fact the brick wall moved first; Waffle Board Not just a sand board but a bridging ladder. It took the weight - about 1 tonne (on each wheel). Attack and departure angles: This slope was about 40 degrees and did not seem to be a problem. The rear is designed to be about 45 degrees. Nowhere to go at the top though. Onwards and upwards How we got there:
