Brakes
Replaced front brake pads as required for the MOT:
See the old vs. new. I'm rather irritated that the old pads at at least 5mm of material left, when the rule for the MOT is 1.5mm (which is when the slot would disappear). The new ones had a 10mm slot (+1.5mm)
And some details:
Pads: 1906430 for the whole axle (4 pads, with wires for wear detectors.)
worth getting spare dowels, which have a strange compression ring in the end. It is only this compression ring that is gripped.
To drive it out requires a 4mm tool. Using and old 4mm bolt failed, it just bent. I used a hex screwdriver bit in the end. Teh brakes are Brembo each with four pistons, two on each side.
One puzzle was that the old ones had a loose shim, but the new pads seemed to have the same shape laminated firmly onto the back of the pad.
Not a difficult job once I knew what to hit and how hard.
